ABC Wednesday Letter "O"

Wednesday, October 31, 2007

"O" is for Ocean. I took this shot some time ago at Natural Bridges Beach in Santa Cruz Ca. It was one of those magic photo moments when the natural light was just perfect. I like the shot so much I use it as my desktop background on my computer.

Life rolls on

Friday, October 26, 2007

Well this week has been a big week for my oldest daughter. Today she turns the big 13. Yup now we have a teenager in our house. Actually it seems like we have had a teenager living in our house for some time. Tonight is the big birthday bash with her friends. The other big event is that she got her braces off her teeth this week. An amazing before and after!

So just like my girls rolling down the hill at Apple Hill, (they just could not resist going for a roll) life rolls on.

Have a great weekend.

A few more butterflies

Thursday, October 25, 2007

A few more butterflies for your enjoyment. In the second shot, I was taking a picture of the small purple flowers and my butterfly friend came fluttering into the frame. Nice timing. I like how he is out of focus. the third shot looks like he has his headlights turned on. If you enlarge the shot you can see his antennas look like they are lit up on the end.

ABC Wednesday Letter "N"

Wednesday, October 24, 2007

I struggled to find a "letter N" for today. Then it appeared before my eyes. My 7 year old was laying on the floor reading and I said to myself "you know she has a cute nose" So here it is "N" is for nose.

Fall Butterflies

Tuesday, October 23, 2007

Outside in the yard yesterday I noticed two butterflies fluttering through the flowers. So I grabbed my camera and started shooting away. Fun!
Don't forget to enlarge for a better view.

Oodles of Doodles and a poodle

Monday, October 22, 2007

This weekend we went to a Doodle Romp. What is a doodle romp? It is a gathering of people and their Labradoodle dogs. Labradoodle's are a cross between a Lab and a Poodle. The dogs have a great personality, are hypo allergenic and shed very little. We don't have one yet, but I can see that a Labradoodle is in our future.

Basking in the Sun

Friday, October 19, 2007

During our Apple Hill trip we still seemed to find some flowers in bloom. All the remaining flowers seemed to be enjoying basking in the fall sunshine knowing that their time was coming to an end.

ABC Wednesday Letter "M"

"M" is for Mantis. On a recent walk I discovered this guy in the grass checking me out. I thought I would do the same and check him out!

The Pumpkin Table

More from Apple Hill. Crisp air and great colors.

Fantastic Fall

This weekend we took a family trip up to Apple Hill. Apple Hill is a area in the Sierra Foothills that is know for its fine apple orchard, Christmas tree farms and pumpkin patches. The weather was great and offered many picture taking opportunities. I will be sharing some of the shots over the next few days.

All in a row

I love how these water drops are all lined up ready to make their fall.

No Dumping?

Thursday, October 11, 2007

I saw this site on the side of the road not long ago and I had to stop and take a picture.

ABC Wednesday letter "L"

Wednesday, October 10, 2007

L is for Lizzard. Last weekend I was putting away our summer stuff from our backyard and when I lifted our umbrella stand I found this fellow who had been hiding underneath.

Ouch!

I love the contrast between natural thorns and man-made thorns

Eyeballs everywhere

Friday, October 5, 2007

Some of you might remember my photos of the tomato plants in my backyard. We they have now been taken over by these interesting looking creatures. They are called Hornworms and feed off tomato plants. It is amazing how fast they eat. They were able to strip off all the leaves on the top half of a 5 foot tall tomato plant in a day!

I have to admit I have been fascinated watching them in action. I think the color is amazing and the fact that it looks like it has eyeballs running down its side it pretty cool!

Make sure you click on the pic to see a larger version!

Ultimate Drive For The Cure

Thursday, October 4, 2007

Yesterday my wife and I took part in an event that we have done yearly for the past 10 years. The event is put on by the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer awareness and is sponsored by BMW. BMW has been a great partner in helping with this event.

The event takes place at a predetermined BMW dealership and BMW has donated 15 different cars to use for the event. All the cars are different BMW models but are all painted the same with the Susan G. Komen drive for the cure logos on the car. The dealership sets up a predetermined road course (about 15 miles) and your job as a participant is to drive the road course. Each lap takes about 20 minutes to complete. Once you are done with your lap you move on to the next car of your choice.

For every mile the cars are driven BMW donates $1.00 to the Komen foundation. Since the program’s inception in 1997, the event has raised over $10 million dollars for breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment programs.

"K" is for Kangaroo

Wednesday, October 3, 2007

I was having trouble finding my "K" for today and then I remembered my picture of a Kangaroo.

Banister

Tuesday, October 2, 2007

Sometimes when I am bored I just start taking pictures of things around the house. This time it was the banisters along my staircase. I like the contrast of the B & W.

The End

Monday, October 1, 2007

I guess it really is true. The summer has now ended and even the flowers look sad.
